It is based on a model which is possibly the simplest from which a solution may be readily obtained for the source function and the equation of transfer. As such it is a single scattering model in which the scattering is isotropic.
Here we present the Lommel-Seeliger law in some detail and as a result point out the existence and consequences of an insidious error, which has percolated down through the literature.
