29: Linear Momentum
( \newcommand{\kernel}{\mathrm{null}\,}\)
The linear momentum (or simply momentum) p of a body of mass m is defined as
p=m v
where v is its velocity. More generally, momentum is a vector, defined by
\mathbf{p}=m \mathbf{v}
Curiously, there is no named SI unit for measuring momentum. Momentum in SI units is measured in units of \mathrm{kg} \mathrm{m} / \mathrm{s}.
